Alexander's Auction House
Became the Dream of a Lifetime
Been to the Auction Lately?
As a young man the founder of Alexander's
Auction, Col Lester Alexander, attend many
auctions. He loved the sound and the call of
the auctioneers. He saw cattle and many
kinds an types of auctions.
In 1956 he went to an auction school - now a
college and came home to his wife and
family all ready to auction. He was excited.
Times in the farm region he was living in at
the time were not easy. He decided to move
to Seattle Washington to take a job there.
That job was great and helped settle the
depressed farming debts he has back home.
He used his time there to see and look at
things in the area. From there he decided to
start a business in the city of Renton where
he was living. It was the start of the greatest
thing a man could do for his family and 100s
of families around him. At the time I am sure
he had no idea how many people he would
help on way or the other. We see the impacts
of his love for the auction and people even
today all around us say the family and fans.
Been to the Auction Lately?
If you ever attended an auction at Alexander's Auction
in Renton Washington, you are most likely a fan. We
had many great auctions and over the years made
many life time friends.
In 1996 the auction house "barn" closed and was
taken down by a track hoe. The property was sold and
a gas station - restaurant was build in it's place. The
location of the food store today is setting pretty close to
the stage in the second auction hall where antique
auctions were conducted.
We all loved the auction and miss it today. The auction
business is still doing great but that old building is
gone.
That same year Fred Bartlett, the famous ring man
and lover of many passed away. He was 82 and we
miss him as well. Fred was around the auction almost
all of the 39 years the auction was located there. You
will see pictures of Fred and the gang in the group
called Alexander's Auction in Yahoo Groups. Join here
